turntables & vinyl

Hi-Fi Audio has never sounded so Good!

The first recorded sounds were on an Edison phonograph recorded in Washington DC in 1881. The first vinyl discs were used on a gramophone in 1889. Since then we have used vinyl discs and turntables to listen to our music. Little has changed in the general idea of how it works, but technology has allowed us to create greater ways to develop the turntable. Today the turntable and vinyl segment is the second fastest growing segment of the music industry. Second only to digital media.

Turntables and vinyl records are still the best sound producers we have. A turntable has a warmth and tone about them that is not matched by their digital counter parts. This may be hard to believe considering the great things we have been able to accomplish in the digital age, but at Sounds Good you can hear the difference for yourself.

Passion for Vinyl

Passion for Vinyl

At Sounds Good we have a passion for vinyl records. Even as this is being written, I am waiting for the vinyl copy of a new album to arrive at my home. I got the digital copy a few days ago, but am holding out to experience the tracks as they were intended, on my turntable. New artists are still releasing copies of their albums on vinyl. Artists like The Zac Brown Band, Mumford and Sons, John Mayer and even Taylor Swift release a vinyl album to accompany the CD or digital download. These artists know that 99% of listeners are going to listen to a digital copy, but to them, it is as important to get a perfect and pure copy to the 1% who will listen on their turntable to their vinyl records.

You can even find new pressings of old records. You can buy a brand new copy of The Beatles White Album from amazon. Many of these are being pressed into 180g vinyl. If you don’t know what that is we can explain it to you. This has let people re-find vinyl, and even let turntables and vinyl find new listeners.
