4K Ultra High Definition TVs
Next-generation Resolution Explained

It has been almost 80 years since television started becoming a common appliance in home across North America.  Since that time the television has continued to evolve.  In 1957 the broadcasters began showing shows in colour. The 1990s and 2000s saw a multitude of big screen television technologies and the past 10 years have seen a quest for a higher definition of picture quality.  By now almost everyone has been wowed by the quality of Blu-Ray 1080P high definition.  Well, prepare yourself for the next evolution, 4K.  4K is essentially 4 times the resolution of current high definition and is something to be experienced.

What you need to know

You may have heard about both 4K and UHD.   If a television is labeled at 4K it will be a true 4K display.   If the television is labeled as UHD it may be close to 4K but not truly 4K.   In either case the difference because 1080P and 4K or UHD is as dramatic as DVD to BluRay.

Should you purchase 4K or UHD?

2015 will certainly be a year where 4K and UHD televisions will be an affordable purchase for most people.  Even though there is very little content available that is truly 4K these television will make your current BluRay content even more spectacular and vivid than ever before.  We do like to be as honest as we can be with our client and we must remind our clients that true 4K content may not be available for quite some time. There is a 4K BluRay in the works and some of the streaming services have mentioned having content available shortly.  Customers interested in 4k or UHD should purchase based on improving their current experience, with low expectations for a ton of 4K content over the next 2-3 years.
